Conceptual Framework

The conceptual framework is the reasoning behind every rule you'll apply for the rest of the course. It defines why revenue is recognized when control transfers, why assets sit at historical cost, and why some items never touch the income statement.

Most exam questions here are not calculations. They give you a situation and ask which assumption, principle, or qualitative characteristic applies — or which one was violated. The skill is pattern recognition: learning the trigger words that point to economic entity, going concern, periodicity, matching, or full disclosure.

The problems below work through the framework the way it's actually tested — identification, matching, and short applied scenarios.
